This lesson is about Leader Member Exchange Theory, also known as LMX. It could be used in a leadership unit within an I/O class. Specifically, this would go in a lesson after discussing what a leader is and how this definition applies to the workplace. This mini lesson starts with a slide on what leaders do in the workplace. We started with that slide to help spark discussion about how leaders not only direct behavior and action but form relationships with employees as well. This mini lesson then transitions into categorizing those relationships using LMX theory.
